Agile Coaching Meetup
Last week, I was invited for one of the Agile Coaching Meetup scheduled at my hometown. It was a Meetup Session organized for around 100 people with different levels of experience. Even though the questions asked by the participants were related to their Day to Day business Challenges, But 60% of the questions were more lean towards Stress Management or I would say the Root Cause of 60% of their Challenges were Lack of Stress Management Skills. Though it was planned for 2 hours, the session continued for around four hours and I had no other choice to spent more than 4 hours as I had to catch my flight back to Chennai for another Customer Meeting.
Whenever the discussion is about Coaching, Time Constraint always happens
But this session really prompted me to write this Article Series, I would be able to answer all the questions by the end of Phase-IV of this Series. I strongly believe that acquiring Stress Management Skill is one of the Vital Part in any Coaching irrespective of the field.
Do You Think Stress is Beneficial?
In my view, Stress is a normal physical response to events that make you feel threatened or upset your balance in some way. Stress is part of life in a fast-paced society. However, Contrary to popular belief, Stress is not always bad. We need some stress to stimulate us.
Do You Think Some Amount of Stress Can Stimulate us?
A certain level of Stress is beneficial. This type of Stress is called Eustress. It helps us to set and achieve goals as well as perform us a higher level. For example, the demands of an upcoming competition, work project or exam can create stress, which stimulates a person to work harder/smarter to win the competition, finish the project on time or do well on the exam.
Beyond a Level, Stress is Absolutely Overwhelming – Do You Agree?
However, there are times when stress is overwhelming. This type of stress is called distress. Paralyzes rather than stimulates. It contributes to decreased health and well-being. An important part of healthy living is to learn to bring stress to beneficial levels.
We do not want this to happen in our life:
If you do not conquer Stress, you will be conquered by Stress.
We all know that:
The will to conquer is the first condition of victory.
